The 14th Vice Presidential election will be held today, 7 August 2012. A total of 788 Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs are eligible to vote in the poll to elect the new Vice President of India.

Ruling Congress led United Progressive Alliance-UPA's nominee Hamid Ansari and Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) led National Democratic Alliance-NDA's nominee Jaswant Singh are in a direct contest with each other for the Vice-President post.
