NCTC issue: All CMs meet on 5 May
04-Apr-2012, 09:52

Following the pressure from various Chief Ministers, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has agreed to hold a separate meeting of all Chief Ministers on 5 May 2012 to discuss the issue of setting up the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC).

The setting up of NCTC has been held up due to the stiff opposition from several Chief Ministers including Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal and Jayalalithaa of Tamil Nadu, Nitish Kumar (Bihar), Naveen Patnaik (Odisha), Narendra Modi (Gujarat) and Manik Sarkar (Tripura).

This meeting is being convened in addition to the Chief Ministers' Conference on Internal Security slated to be held on 16 April 2012.
