Indian Chemical industry to scale USD 300 billion by 2030
22-Oct-2026, 12:57
The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers reported that India ranks as the sixth-largest global producer of chemicals and the fourth-largest in Asia. The Indian chemical industry is forecast to attain a valuation of USD 300 billion by 2030 and USD 1 trillion by 2040, underpinned by substantial expansion. The sector's growth trajectory is bolstered by increasing demand, export prospects, a favorable demographic profile, comparatively modest per capita consumption, and supportive government policies.

India’s ascent as a favored international investment location is underpinned by governance enhancements, state-of-the-art infrastructure, resilient trade and investment protocols, a rigorous regulatory environment, and the presence of a skilled workforce at competitive rates. The chemicals and petrochemicals sector is anticipated to be instrumental in bolstering domestic production, broadening participation in global value chains, and facilitating India’s long-term economic objectives.
