India to sustain 7% economic growth in FY2026-27, Finance Minister says
31-Aug-2026, 04:58
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated that India is expected to maintain an economic growth rate of 7 percent or more in the financial year 2026-27. She expressed optimism about sustaining growth despite geopolitical uncertainties and supply-chain issues linked to the US-Iran conflict and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. She noted that this disruption initially impacted supplies of crucial commodities like crude and fertilizers but that India successfully rerouted these supplies. The Finance Minister also mentioned that the government has kept fertilizer prices stable for farmers through subsidies, despite rising international prices, and will continue systemic reforms while seeking to attract more overseas capital.
