Monsoon ticks 11 percent lower than LPA this season, IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that from July 30 to August 5, 2026, rainfall was normal across the country, being 7% above the Long Period Average (LPA). It was excessive in the South Peninsula, normal in Central India and East & Northeast India, and deficient in Northwest India. From June 1 to August 5, 2026, cumulative rainfall was 11% below the normal category.
